A Logical modern world tale of magic

#1
I am looking for a modern world fantasy based in our world, and also incorporates elements of 21 century; it needs to have people aware of and using things like cell phone and cars, and not stuck with swords when you can do the job easily with a gun.
It would be a bonus if it has a magic school setting (though not a necessity), but please make sure the MC it Logical and not some happy-go-lucky chap with infinite luck and indestructible plot armour!
Thanks in advance

My story has a magic world fuse with a 21st century world.

Guns are consider alright but not as good as certain weapons or magic. This gets further explained in my next chapter.

Mother of learning is not exactly a modern setting, at least last I check. It seems more like closer to 1750-1880 periode, but based on magic. There are some somewhat modern elements, like trains, but I have seen no guns, phones, cars and so on.
Otherwise a lot of urban fantasy would fit the bill. For sources outside RRL I would suggest dresden files and iron druid chroicles. As for stories on this site I will have to go back and check if some of them fit the bill. The closests I can come up with on the spot is Metaworld Chroincles: http://royalroadl.com/fiction/14167/metaworld-chronicles. It features a parallel world for modern day 200X something, where most technology have been replaced with magic, including phones, cars, trains and such. I havent seen any mention of guns though.

Does Sci-Fi with a supernatural twist count as well? The story I'm thinking of is not set too far in the future, around50-60 years, I forgot how much exactly.  If that's okay, check out Dark Rain by Arizada.
The writing and the characters are superb, with depth and a lot of thought. Updates are frequent, so don't be put off by the few chapters.

The one that came to mind first though, was Law of Shadows by Andur. I wasn't sure if I should recommend that, just because most readers on RRL seem to know his fictions already. It has all the stuff you want, I think. An "old" powerful being that realized, that fighting with a machinegun or rocket launcher might be more efficient than magic attacks. Packed with action and a lot of fun to read. Heavy plot armour though, as all of Andurs MCs are very OP.

Shameless request: if you could take a look at my novel, Centifire, that'd be really cool! (Link in the sig) But no pressure.

So the beginning of the novel takes place in the modern world that has incorporated what I called 'alien technology' but is actually magic as the MC discovers in the later chapters. Without giving too much away, the concept of 'world traveling' exists, hence modern technology is present in other worlds as well that the MC will later visit. BUT there are only 9 chapters out that still takes place in the modern world.

Synopsis:
"If you can't see the starting line, you will be set on fire."

Lark, the heir to Runetech Industries, is a holder to one of the few developed Trinity Watches using alien technology. It’s full potential isn’t unlocked until his best friend, Sky, gets kidnapped by a slime.

In order to rescue Sky, Lark transports himself to a new world full of magic and danger.

There are guns. The MC even uses one at one point. They're just considered to be inferior to magic in the vast majority of cases. I would agree that the tech levels are closer to the end of the 19th century than the start of the 21st though.

Well. I have a book that fulfills the technology part, but the mc never uses them. Though a few enemies he fights do use them. The book is a mythological reincarnation thing that gets quite deep when it comes to characters and plot. Called Mythical conquest. Link is https://royalroadl.com/fiction/9337/mythical-conquest

Magic is logical and Qi (appears midway through the book so far) is very well made.
The name is Great isn't it?
WRONG! Its the Worst Name Ever ain't it Razz

Anyways. no books atm. currently going to rehab to get rid of my chronical illness known as Procrastinitus.
