Hi. 

I received some PMs that were titled "You have a new buddy," and the text in the message says "Hi, I have been automatically added to your buddy list." 

I am very pleasantly surprised when I receive one of these.  Anyway, just for the heck of it, I clicked "Buddy/Ignore List" in the Edit Profile screen, and it says there, "You currently have 0 user(s) on your buddy list"

I have two questions:


(1) What are buddies, and what can I do with buddies?

(2) Why aren't people who click me as a buddy, and I receive the automated PM that I have a new buddy, are not put on my buddy list?

Currently, the buddy system is somewhat obsolete and is pending an overhaul.
