Book Covers (photo manipulation gallery

#1
IMPORTANT: For those of you that wanted covers or checked this out in the last few months. I am so sorry T-T. I lost a few projects and then school got busy and ... gah... anyway I'm really sorry and I don't think I could ever make up my absence. I just got a new computer and am now relearning how to use GIMP on a macOS. Yeah. Just so you know I kind of miss my old messed up windows desktop... so... I guess I'm back in business. I have to go through my mail and catch up on everything I missed so until then.

I'm a digital artist who can't draw at all, so... yeah. I like doing book covers as a hobby. I do anything from minimal vector type covers to full-blown photo manipulations. I prefer covers that have a character as a focal point and then backgrounds with really big font, but I'm up for suggestions.

I'm still practicing. >.< Oh, and it's free. Again - I'm still practicing. And this is a hobby. No payment required though it would be nice of you to spread the word. I also do scenery photo manipulations but I took those examples out to just focus on book covers. I also do commercial covers. Those are also free. All except two of these uses free for commercial use fonts and photos.

JUST A NOTE: Einarr Stiganderson and the jotunhall (did I spell that right?), Fortuitous mage, and charon's oar are all stories on this site. You should check them out

Your examples are really nice :) I especially like the Arcaworld cover and the fantasy landscape with the moon and the arch over the sea...  I've been trying to come up with a cover for the first book of my serial and not having much luck. Feel like giving it a try? (It would be for sale, so whatever image(s) you used would have to be CC0.)

It would be for chapters 1.1-1.34 of this story: https://royalroadl.com/fiction/12251/the-adventures-of-einarr-stigandersen

I'm caught between two ideas.

First: a smallish red-haired man and a burly brown-haired man facing off against a giant white wolf in an equally giant evergreen forest in winter.  It's a fimbulvulf and its bite freezes things, but I don't know how or if you'd want to show that. If it's important, the red-haired man uses a sword and the brown-haired man uses an axe.

Second: The Isinntog, described in chapter 26 thusly:
Quote:More than merely reflecting the sunlight slanting in through the room’s single window, the torc that rested on a velvet pillow on the pedestal seemed to shine with its own light. The pure white gold was braided into a ring, and at each knot a diamond was set. The ends of the torque were wrought into elegant dragon heads. On the inside of the arc, its name was inscribed with runes.

The torc has some powers over storms and the sea,  so I think it would be good if the background hinted at that without being overly busy, but if something else strikes you as better I'm open to ideas.

Let me know if either of these seems like something you'd like to try. I'd like to move forward with the ebook version relatively quickly.

I literally just saw your reply and yes, I would love to work on a cover for you. Here are some other examples I've done and if you still want me to try, just ask and I'll message you my ideas for your cover.

Found your post while looking for the correct size to edit my online generated cover xD

Unsure if you're still available or if you'll see this at all...I've just started a new story after finishing my second one and am looking for someone to make a cover where as I cannot draw for the life of me! :D

Here is my fiction: http://royalroadl.com/fiction/15881/conquerors-of-the-delve

I'm looking for something like 'Tanterr'? style, where the image is somewhat smudged (Watercolour?)

The basic idea is a man with black feathers for hair, half-wings growing out of his arms like the woman in 'Tanterr'(Unsure if that is what is written...preferably not using this font :P) but made of black raven-like feathers. He also has a cape-like tail of feathers growing out of his back.

This man is wielding a basic longbow with a quiver full of arrows strapped to the back of his waist (To a belt) , he is holding the bow down whilst looking over a ledge. Before him is a massive cavern(Think journey to the center of the earth) filled with nightmarish creatures of shadow, violet lighting mixed with white lightning filling the cave.

This book probably won't be going for sale though, I'm just a hobby writer so any coverage will mainly be from my small reader base xP
The wolf is always hunting, whether through the forest alongside its pack...
Or as it slumbers, awaiting the enemy's attack.

Thanks for the tip. I've signed up. I'll probably do some covers in the future. Thank you.

Sorry, it took me a while. I try to check this thread once or twice a week and you came like right after my last check. Anyway, I'd love to help. I'll send you a pm tomorrow detailing what I'll need from you and any changes that might need to be made. Have a good day. :)

Ah thank you but I somehow managed myself  ^ ^, I do suggest trying the RRL Discord for more coverage though. Lot's of good people there :D

I’d be interested in requesting a cover for my story when you have some time - I was browsing the art forum looking for people offering services because my artistic talent extends as far as blocky Minecraft pixel art, and my fiction needs a cover image, but I’ve been dry on ideas for it.

Came across your thread, and saw the one for The Kings Hunter, and that immediately spawned a proper concept for my cover. Now that I’ve got a few ideas in my head, care to take a swing at something in a similar style? Namely, no needed detailed backgrounds or faces, just a cluster of objects important to some themes of the story and a title?

I can provide details, and I’m not terribly picky about results - I just want *something* to use as a cover so I’m not just sitting there with the blank ‘200x300’ image, haha. Besides, I like your style in general, the ones you’ve got here all have a great look to them imo.

SOrry for the late reply. I haven't been on here in quite a bit because of a few things. I'd love to help out. Just pm me if you are still interested. ;)
